Rebecca Manning, 1st Grade
My name is Rebecca Manning. I am a 1st Grade Teacher at Lin-Wood Public School. I love teaching first grade! First grade is a big learning year and the kids get really excited and empowered by all of their new information! I really enjoy reading to children and teaching them how to read on their own. It is important to me to make sure kids are learning with hands-on, relatable experiences. First grade is a fun, caring and safe learning environment. I enjoy creating this space and having kids grow socially, emotionally, and academically into caring citizens of our community!
I live in North Woodstock with my husband Matt (H/HS Guidance Counselor), my 2 sons Cam (who is learning at Plymouth State University) and Liam (who is in high school at Lin-Wood), and my 2 dogs Phoebe and Mookie. It is great to live and work in this community and get to know all of the kids and their families.
My Education and Professional Background:
This is my 6th year teaching 1st grade. Before that, I taught Preschool, Kindergarten, and co-taught in 3rd/4th grade. I was a paraprofessional at Lin-Wood for many years prior as well. I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology in 1999 from Framingham State University. I went on to work with troubled youth in MA, to support them in making better life choices. After many years, we decided to move to NH and I continued to work with youth in NH. Shortly after, I started my career at Lin-Wood. In 2016, I earned my Certificate of Elementary Education and my Master’s Degree in Elementary Education. With each new year, I love watching the children grow and learn.
